Informal auditions for entry into MDI's individual instruction programs are held throughout the year for every department in order to find the most suitable student/teacher combinations. For some classes and ensembles that can only admit a limited number of participants per semester, regular auditions will be arranged before each semester.
Informal interviews for entry into MDI's individual instruction programs are held throughout the year for every department in order to find the most suitable student/teacher combinations. Students, or their parents, will be asked to fill out an application form and be given an opportunity to acquaint themselves with The MDI first hand.
Because our all our students are part-time students, we will accept any level, including beginners, late starters, and even music and vocal students with technical problems, for individual instruction.
Some of the classes and individual teachers may have prerequisites for background studies, age, etc.(See details under Courses & Classes)
Most of the instruction given is in English, some in Chinese. Depending on the background of the Artist-Teacher, other languages, including German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, etc. may also be used for individual instruction if this is the preference of the student.
Changing Schools and Teachers
For more successful learning results, we strongly recommend that students who join The MDI for individual lessons discontinue the same type of lessons with other teachers while receiving instruction at The Music & Drama Institute.Students who have affiliations with other performing arts institutions, organizations, schools, etc. are expected to acknowledge their studies at the MDI and the names of their individual teachers in concert programs, application materials to other institutions, etc.
