Purpose & Goals:
Audience development through increased knowledge and analytical listening and viewing skills in the appreciation of the art of Western opera

Content & Activities:
In this course we will examine the expression of feelings, situations and stories that focus on passion, romance, sexuality, tragedy, and death in musical works.

We will consider a huge range of musical genres for stage, concert and daily life from the West and other parts of the world during all time periods, popular music and art music, including actual performances within the musical life of Hong Kong.

For every six-week course will be a follow up course with new exciting explorations of this never ending topic.

Prerequisites:
This course will benefit all students who have an interest in exploring this significant part of western culture. There is no pre-requisite for the course, and no prior knowledge of music or languages is needed.
