BIOGRAPHY

A Canadian/Swedish Cellist, Erik comes from a family of musicians. He received his early instrumental training in Montreal under the tutelage of Walter Joachim. He continued on full scholarship in Sweden, where he studied under Ola Karlsson, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. He went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Sweden, where he was awarded the Gold Medal for excellence. With a full scholarship, he attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London in the Advanced Instrumental Studies program, under the guidance of David Takeno.

He has recently performed as soloist in the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Swedish Radio Orchestra as well as three performances of the same concerto with the Halsinglands Symphony Orchestra. During his studies in Stockholm, he was soloist with the school chamber orchestra in the Haydn D major concerto as well as performing solo and chamber music broadcasts for the Swedish Radio.

This past year, he has been an active freelance musician in Montreal, working with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed in chamber music recitals, in collaboration with the Canandian Broadcasting Corporation.

Erik joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 2004.
