Robert Langston was born in London in 1949 and studied at the Royal Academy of Music, where he won prizes and diplomas for organ and piano, and later at Cambridge University, where he was organ scholar of Peterhouse.
He taught Academic Studies, Organ and Piano and choral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music from 1972 to 1991 and at the Royal College of Music from 1991 to 1995. Since then he has pursued a freelance career as a teacher and performer in organ, piano and harpsichord.
From 1972 to 1988 he was also Director of Music at St Bride's Church, Fleet Street, London and from 1988 to 2004 was Organist to the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and has examined for the ABRSM since 1980 and has visited Hong Kong many times in that capacity, as well as to perform at the Cultural Centre and Chinese U. He taught in his own studio in Singapore from 2003-2004, and now lives in Hong Kong.
