BIOGRAPHY

Venus Chu started her piano learning at the age of four. She later on found great interest in the flute and decided to enter the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to pursue her flute playing career. In 2001, she graduated from the academy and was awarded a Bachelor in Music with first class honours.

She participated in various orchestral and solo performances both in Hong Kong and in Europe during the Academy European tours. In Year 2003, she was granted the British Chevening Scholarship to continue her flute study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. There, she studied with some of the most renowned flute teachers such as Peter Lloyd, Michael Cox, Jo Boddington and Pat Morris. Venus is also very interested in the relationship between singing and flute playing and chose this as the subject of her research in Manchester. In 2005, she was awarded Masters in Music Performance at the RNCM (with distinction in dissertation).
